Veins To Wires began on the dance floor ~ Maija & Aaron first met dancing at the Goodfoot Lounge in Portland, Oregon.
Maija Soucie was born a wild musical child in the D.C. area. Her father Les Souci was an activist/musician, who took her to Jamaica at age 3, where she lived & learned heart riddim's of the locals & he recorded/produced a Grammy-nominated Reggae Sunsplash album....A Latvian refugee, her mum took Maija to Latvia, just before Soviet collapse, for a summer of folk dance & songs of peace & freedom, where her roots grew deeper to her source of life~ in Music! ....&Poetry! & Theatre! as she played at Folger Shakespeare Theatre for a summer....& Another, she lived/worked w/ Patch Adams @Gesundheit Institute...And the Groove goes on~*~~~~~
Aaron grew up in southern Alabama, where he learned to play the blues guitar in church choir. He studied Jazz and Classical performance at Loyola University in New Orleans, where he discovered the funk! After school, Aaron moved to Oregon, where he ran a small recording studio, an online guitar parts business, and composed and performed for several local and regional musical groups.
For several years after starting the band Veins To Wires were unable perform much because they were both suffering from mysterious and debilitating health problems. In the winter of 2017, Aaron & Maija finally discovered that they had high levels of lead and other toxic heavy metals! Years of illness and frustration came to a head and they sold all their possessions, bought an old Ford minivan, and took off for 9 months in Baja Sur, Mexico, to live off their music while camping on beaches, resting, and healing. Now Veins To Wires is back in the States, living in Richmond, VA, and so excited to be healthy enough to travel and perform!
Veins To Wires is a Groove Rock and Soul band originally from Portland, OR. Their Cyber/Organic-Soul/Core is a powerful blend of the natural (guitar & vocals) with the synthetic (electronics and drum machines). They perform original music, plus a wide range of popular tributes. V2W has toured in Oregon, California, Mexico, Virginia/DC, and West Virginia, and recently performed with Grammy winner Terry Townson.
